Environmental Science Ms

The University of West Florida offers a synchronous online Environmental Science M.S. on a non-thesis track. The program builds advanced education and research in earth and environmental sciences, and focuses on concepts including geographic information science, soil science, coastal science, meteorology/climatology, human-environment interactions, and environmental planning, policy, and politics. It also builds on foundational proficiencies in chemistry, geosciences, geographic information systems, and remote sensing.

Students complete 30 credit hours total. The required core is 9 credit hours, including EVR 6930, GEO 6936, and GEO 6118, plus 21 credit hours of electives. The non-thesis track requires 15 credits to be at the 6000-level, and up to 3 credit hours may include an internship. Students can select electives to match individual interests, and the program supports one-on-one communication with faculty through synchronous coursework with real-time lectures at scheduled times.

• You must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution.
• An institutional undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on the last 60 hours of coursework in the baccalaureate degree
• Completion of the Foundational Proficiencies as a condition of admission to the program
• A college-level course in chemistry
• Two upper-level science courses in the geo-, earth, or environmental sciences
• Two upper-level techniques courses (e.g. GIS, aerial photo interpretation, remote sensing, field methods, analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis)
