Graduate Certificate of Veterinary Education

The Graduate Certificate of Veterinary Education prepares veterinary professionals to strengthen instructional skills and contribute to veterinary education. It is conducted jointly with Lincoln Memorial University’s Master of Veterinary Education (MVEd) program and focuses on educational theory and instructional methodology, with practical, research-informed training for lecture and lab settings.

The program is delivered 100% online and fully asynchronous. Students complete coursework on their schedule with a flexible completion timeline, finishing in as few as two semesters or up to four. The certificate requires 14–20 credit hours, and it is designed for working professionals who want to balance study with a full-time career in veterinary education.

All applicants to the CVEd must:

• Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution (or verified international equivalent) with an overall minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80+
• Applicants with a cumulative GPA below the minimum GPA may be considered for the program, but they will be admitted under automatic academic probation for their first semester.
• Proof of DVM, a four-year baccalaureate degree in a veterinary-related field, or credentialed veterinary technician with proof of licensure

To apply to the CVEd program, the following must be completed and/or submitted:

• PostbacCAS Application
• Official transcripts from all institutions attended
• Foreign transcripts, including from previous DVM programs, must be evaluated by World Education Services (WES) or Josef Silney & Associates, Inc. before submission. Transcripts from Ross University’s DVM program can be ordered directly from the institution without a transcript evaluation service
• Two letters of recommendation from individuals with knowledge of the applicant’s work and ability and can, therefore, evaluate their potential for success in this graduate program
• One personal essay (500 words) that professionally articulates a response to the following prompts: Explain your motivation for obtaining a Certificate of Veterinary Education, how your background and training have prepared you for this program, and how/why this skill set will help you in your career goals.
