The Network Administration & Cyber Security - IT Technician Diploma at Southeastern Community College builds a foundation of IT management skills for entry-level IT technician work. Students learn to install, configure, and maintain server and network infrastructure, manage and troubleshoot hardware devices, implement access controls and authentication mechanisms, and handle user accounts, permissions, and system configurations.
Instruction includes hands-on experience with installation, maintenance, and administration of PC networks. Students work on security principles and router, switch, and firewall configuration, and they use Microsoft and Linux operating systems. During the second semester, students take NET-101 IT Fundamentals to earn CompTIA IT Fundamentals certification. The IT Technician Diploma is awarded after successful completion of the second semester.
