Post-Baccalaureate Certificate for Teaching in Catholic Schools

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate for Teaching in Catholic Schools at St. Mary’s University is a fully online summer course for college graduates interested in teaching in elementary, middle, or high school Catholic schools. It is designed to fulfill the required teaching credential necessary for teachers to remain employed as instructional faculty at Catholic schools.

The certificate is a 12-hour undergraduate certificate with four required courses, offered online during the summer. Students gain knowledge and virtual experience in teaching at the elementary, middle, or high school level, without student-teaching. The credential qualifies students to teach in primary through secondary Catholic schools, but not public schools.

• Instructional Planning, Assessment and Evaluation for Post-Baccalaureate Students

• Submit the Post-Baccalaureate Application through the undergraduate admission portal and select Post-Baccalaureate Student.
• Indicate Teaching in Catholic Schools Program and note your intention to enroll in the Teaching in Catholic Schools program in your application.
• Provide official transcripts from all institutions showing completion of a bachelor’s degree to the Office of Admission.
• Submit an Enrollment Confirmation form and the $200 non-refundable enrollment deposit to complete the Enrollment Confirmation Process.
