The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Certificate is an undergraduate certificate for undergraduate students and non-degree seeking adult learners who want specialized skills for working with people learning English. It is designed to prepare students to engage in service or vocation with English learners.
Students take a selection of courses that prepare them for a career in a related field. The certificate can be declared by currently enrolled, degree-seeking students through the Registrar’s Office during regular business hours, and it must be declared before completion of the undergraduate degree.
The certificate is intended to support employment pathways where job postings for teaching English to adults list a TESOL certificate as a requirement. Career options described for graduates include roles in English language instruction and English language materials.
