Carnegie Mellon University: the applicant's brief

6 findings
  1. The short answer

Carnegie Mellon University is a United States university in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, offering bachelor’s degree study across a defined set of programmes. It suits students who want undergraduate options in technical, scientific, business, and arts-related fields and are prepared to check the university’s own admissions and language details before applying.

  2. What you can study

You can study 18 bachelor’s degree programmes, including Accountancy, Actuarial Science, Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ACES), Agricultural Education, Anthropology, Astronomy, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Computer Science, Dance (BA), and Environmental Engineering. The available mix shows both STEM and non-STEM options at undergraduate level.

  3. Getting in

International applicants should apply for a bachelor’s degree through the university’s official admissions process and check the current entry requirements on the website. Because programme-specific requirements are not all listed, confirm deadlines, documents, any testing requirements, and whether your previous qualifications are accepted with the admissions office.

  4. What it costs

The university does not publish a tuition fee in the information available here; confirm the current rate with its admissions office. Plan separately for living costs in Pittsburgh, which will depend on housing, food, transport, and personal spending.

  5. Coming from abroad

The language of instruction is not stated, so confirm this on the official website before applying. If you are moving from abroad, also check visa steps, document translation or certification rules, health insurance, accommodation options, and whether your chosen programme has any extra entry conditions.

  6. How it compares

Among 2,515 universities in the United States, Carnegie Mellon University sits in a large national field and stands out for offering only bachelor’s degrees in a relatively focused set of 18 programmes. That makes it more suitable for students who already know the subject area they want to study than for those looking for a broad, all-level university catalogue.

Written from this university's catalogue entry and its cited encyclopedia summary. Figures are only shown where the institution or a cited source publishes them — always confirm fees and entry requirements with the university itself before applying.
