Master of Science Degree in Food Security and Sustainable Agricultural Production

The Master of Science Degree in Food Security and Sustainable Agricultural Production provides an in-depth scientific understanding of food security and sustainable agriculture at global, regional, national, community, and household levels. The programme equips students with skills, principles, strategies, and analytical techniques related to food security and sustainable agriculture, including work linked to Non-Governmental Organisations and Government Departments.

Students study taught courses in the first academic year and complete a research project in the second academic year. Taught courses are assessed through a combination of course work and formal examinations, and some candidates may be required to take an oral examination. To register for the Research Project (MFS 517), students must pass Applied Research Methods (MFS 511).

Production option: A BSc Degree in Agriculture, Biological Sciences, Food Science, Nutrition and Forestry with a 2.2 grade or better.

Policy option: A BSc Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Geography, Development Studies or any Social Science Degree with a 2.2 grade or better.

Candidates with at least 2 years of relevant working experience with a pass will also be considered.
