Diploma in BTS Opticien Lunetier

BTS Opticien Lunetier is a Diploma program taught at Ecole Supérieure d'Optique, France. Intake: September or February. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.

The BTS Opticien Lunetier is a post-bac qualification at level Bac+2 that prepares students for the job of optician. Training focuses on scientific, technical, and practical teaching, including eye examinations, vision analysis, and geometric optics. Courses are organised in practical workshops in small groups, with personalised follow-up of learning. The qualification is an official national diploma issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research.

Teaching can be taken full-time or via alternance, depending on campus. Full-time is delivered over 24 months after completion of secondary education, or over 18 months through a February intake. Students combine theoretical lessons, practical workshops, and professional immersion. The programme includes a stage of six weeks in an optician shop at the end of the first year, with a report and presentation integrated into the BTS OL assessments. With Erasmus+, the stage can also be completed abroad.

In alternance, students combine course teaching at ISO with work in an optician business, following a schedule of 2 days at school and 3 days on the job. This structure is intended to build skills progressively through direct practice such as customer relations, eye examinations, workshops, sales, taking measurements, and technical fitting. Small-group teaching supports skill development and individual follow-up.
