Introduction

Transkulturelle Traumapädagogik is a Masters program taught at Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg Center for Advanced Studies (CAS), Germany. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1–2 years) options.

The Master Transkulturelle Traumapädagogik (DHBW CAS) trains students to work with trauma- and culture-sensitive psychosocial support for people with migration or flight history. Students learn from psychology, pedagogy, and social work. The program focuses on understanding causes and possible consequences of traumatization in contexts of flight and migration, and on developing transkultural traumapädagogical attitudes and action concepts.

DHBW CAS structures the master as a modular program with 14 modules. Ten core modules are mandatory, including the Masterarbeit, and four modules can be chosen freely, either from the program’s modules or by combining modules from Governance Sozialer Arbeit, Soziale Arbeit der Migrationsgesellschaft, Planung und Koordination in der Sozialen Arbeit, or Digitalisierung in der Sozialen Arbeit. The program is berufsintegrierend: students connect theory and practice through their work and self-study. Each module includes 5 in-person event days (a 2-day and a 3-day block), with a total of 65 in-person days plus additional examination dates.
