Introduction

Werkstoff- & Prozesstechnik is a Bachelor program taught at Hochschule Albstadt-Sigmaringen, Germany. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Hochschule Albstadt-Sigmaringen offers a Bachelor’s program in Werkstoff- und Prozesstechnik (B.Eng.). Students study modern materials and manufacturing processes. The program covers how the properties of metals, ceramics, plastics, and composite materials depend on composition and structure, and on their processing. It also considers the full production process chain up to the finished product, including aspects of sustainability, plus material mechanics, experimental material testing, and computer-aided simulation methods.

The program includes lectures, practical work, and projects. In the first four semesters, students deepen theoretical knowledge through interdisciplinary practical work in modern laboratories. In the fifth semester, students gain practical experience in a self-chosen industrial company, where they work on an independent project. In the sixth semester, they complete a research and development project in cooperation with another industry company at the university, in small teams. The bachelor thesis is preferably written in a company.

Werkstoff- und Prozesstechnik is currently suspended, and Hochschule Albstadt-Sigmaringen states that applications are not possible. The institute states that students can continue to study Werkstoff- und Prozesstechnik as a specialization within the Sustainable Engineering degree.
