Introduction

Biotechnologie der Marinen Ressourcen is a Bachelor of Science degree at Hochschule Bremerhaven. The course combines biological and non-biological foundations with content from the two study focuses “Marine Ressourcen” and “Bio-Analytik”. Students learn subjects such as Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus Zoology, Botany and Marine biology, and then move to topics including oceanography, marine flora & fauna, aquaculture, fisheries, microorganisms, molecular-genetic and biochemical methods, and bioanalytics for medical, food, and biotechnological diagnostics.

Hochschule Bremerhaven describes the program as seven semesters in full-time study. The first two semesters cover basic subjects, and the later semesters include the “Marine Ressourcen” and “Bio-Analytik” focuses. In the last two subject semesters, students learn in the project and practice phase in applied research projects and in biotechnological companies. The practice phase is planned for the seventh subject semester and can be completed in or outside the country.

Voraussetzung für die Zulassung zum Studium ist eine allgemeine Hochschulreife, Fachhochschulreife oder ein als gleichwertig anerkannter Bildungsabschluss. Zudem führt seit Frühjahr 2024 eine 3-jährige Ausbildung zu einer fachgebundenen Hochschulzugangsberechtigung. Für ausländische Studierende gilt als Zulassungsvoraussetzung das Sprachniveau C1 in Deutsch.
