Bachelor's in Soziale Arbeit

Soziale Arbeit is a Bachelor program taught at Katholische Fachhochschule Mainz, Germany. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Soziale Arbeit (B.A.) at Katholische Hochschule Mainz is a Bachelor of Arts that includes state recognition as Sozialarbeiter/Sozialarbeiterin bzw. Sozialpädagoge/Sozialpädagogin. The course covers theories of social work, legal knowledge, political, economic, sociological and psychological knowledge, counseling methods and communication skills, and scientific work. It also addresses migration and integration in seminars on intercultural social work or migration policy.

The degree has a Regelstudienzeit of 7 Semester. It is Vollzeit in Präsenz and includes a Praxisphase in a social institution or authority for 7 months, prepared, supported, and followed up together. You can complete the internship wholly or partly abroad, and an Auslandssemester is also possible. In the last two semesters, you acquire a Zusatzqualifikation (Handlungsspezifische Vertiefung) from Culture and Media Education or Social Medicine.

The minimum requirements for admission in Soziale Arbeit at Katholische Fachhochschule Mainz for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Katholische Fachhochschule Mainz.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Katholische Fachhochschule Mainz as pre-requiste for admission in Soziale Arbeit.

For the Bachelor study programme Soziale Arbeit, the following Zulassungsvoraussetzungen apply:

• Hochschulzugangsberechtigung (HZB): allgemeine oder fachgebundene Hochschulreife oder die Fachhochschulreife. Alternativ eine berufliche Ausbildung, die mit der Note 2,5 oder besser abgeschlossen wurde oder eine berufliche Weiterqualifikation durch eine Meisterprüfung bzw. eine vergleichbare Prüfung.
• Vorpraktikum (12 Wochen in Vollzeit) sofern keine entsprechende einschlägige Vorerfahrung im sozialen Bereich vorliegt.
