Introduction

Master of Education Grundschule is a Masters program taught at Universität Erfurt, Germany. Intake: Wintersemester. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 semesters) options.

The Master of Education Grundschule at Universität Erfurt prepares students for work as a Grundschullehrer or Grundschullehrerin (teaching staff in primary education). The curriculum covers Bildungswissenschaftlicher Bereich and Fachdidaktischer Bereich, preparing students for teaching in Deutsch and Mathematik (Grundlegungsfächer) and for at least one additional Unterrichtsfach (Schwerpunktfach). Students also study the social conditions of school and instruction and plan, carry out, and reflect on teaching and learning processes.

The programme totals 120 Leistungspunkte. Bildungswissenschaftlicher Bereich includes modules such as Diagnostizieren, Beurteilen und Beraten (including schulpraktische Studien), Erziehung, Klassenführung und Konfliktbewältigung (including schulpraktische Studien), Heterogenität und Inklusion, Sprecherziehung, Musisch-rhythmische Grundbildung, and Grundschulpädagogik und Grundschulforschung. Fachdidaktischer Bereich includes Grundlegungsfächer (with schulpraktische Studien) and an 18 LP Schwerpunktfach (including schulpraktische Studien). Students complete a Komplexes Schulpraktikum with 15 Wochen Schulpraxis, plus a Master-Arbeit (18 LP).

To be admitted, applicants must hold an appropriate bachelor’s degree of at least six semesters and meet grade and subject requirements for Grundschule, including Deutsch and Mathematik. The programme is taught in German.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission in Master of Education Grundschule at Universität Erfurt for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

Admission to the Master of Education Grundschule requires completion of a relevant bachelor’s degree of at least six semesters with the grade 2,5 or better. With the bachelor’s degree, three school subjects of primary school must be proven, including Deutsch and Mathematik. In one of the subjects, subject-related study components totaling 60 ECTS must be proven.

Applicants must also have completed the following study components in the bachelor’s programme:

6 LP in the module „Bildungswissenschaftliche Grundlagen“ incl. Praktikum an einer Grundschule

Is das allgemeinbildende Unterrichtsfach eine Fremdsprache, sind in dieser Sprache Kenntnisse der Stufe C1 nachzuweisen.

Internationale Bewerber*innen, whose native language is not German, must provide proof of German language skills (Niveau B1) at the time of application.
