Introduction

Master of Education Grundschule is a Masters program taught at Universität Erfurt, Germany. Intake: Winter. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 Semester) options.

Master of Education Grundschule at Universität Erfurt is a teacher-education master for Grundschule. It prepares students for teaching in the subjects Deutsch and Mathematik as Grundlegungsfächer, plus at least one further Unterrichtsfach (Schwerpunktfach). Students build knowledge about the social conditions of school and classroom teaching, and develop skills to plan, conduct, and reflect on teaching and learning based on theory.

The degree covers 120 Leistungspunkte. It includes Bildungswissenschaftlicher Bereich (36 LP), Fachdidaktischer Bereich (36 LP), Komplexes Schulpraktikum (30 LP), and a Master-Arbeit (18 LP). Komplexes Schulpraktikum involves 15 weeks of school practice with accompanying courses, group supervision, and reflection, including practice periods in the second year of the master. The programme leads to the qualification for work as a Grundschullehrer*in when followed by a Vorbereitungsdienst.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission in Master of Education Grundschule at Universität Erfurt for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

program specific academic requirment set by Universität Erfurt.
English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Universität Erfurt as pre-requiste for admission in Master of Education Grundschule.

Admission requires a Bachelor’s degree of at least six semesters in a relevant field with the grade 2,5 or better. With the Bachelor’s degree, applicants must provide evidence of three Grundschule school subjects, including Deutsch and Mathematik. In one of the subjects, applicants must show academic subject studies with a scope of 60 ECTS.

International applicants whose mother tongue is not German must provide proof of German proficiency (Niveau B1) at the time of application. If the general education Unterrichtsfach is a foreign language, applicants must prove knowledge at level C1 in that language.
