Introduction

Criminology is a Bachelor program taught at Assumption College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

The Criminology B.A. at Assumption University studies crime and its impact on society. Students explore why some acts are against the law and others are not, why people commit crimes, how crime impacts victims and society, and how the criminal justice system operates from arrest through court processing, sanctioning, and reentry. Majors take 13 courses made up of seven required courses and six electives.

The degree emphasizes personal hands-on experience and independent research. Majors participate in a two-semester internship seminar with agencies and organizations within the criminal justice system or closely allied professions, including victim services agencies, substance abuse treatment programs, and programs for at-risk youth. Classes are taught by professors, not teaching assistants.
