Bachelor's in History
Introduction
History is a Bachelor program taught at Assumption College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The History program at Assumption College (B.A.) helps you study political, social, and economic trends through primary sources and independent research. You develop skills to form interpretations of original evidence, including letters, newspapers, maps, paintings, advertisements, architecture, movies, and other primary sources.
The history major includes 11 courses, with a capstone research seminar in your junior or senior year. You take a pro-seminar at the same time to provide background and context. Your major research project is completed under a history professor’s mentorship. Course work also includes careful consideration of evidence to recognize biased opinions and “fake news.”
Classes can use the Worcester area as a classroom through visits to places such as the Worcester Art Museum, the American Antiquarian Society, the Museum of Russian Icons, the Hanover Theater, Mechanics Hall, and religious sites. The program prepares you for careers in fields such as law, business, education, government, and nonprofits, using skills in information management and clear expression.
