Defiance College’s Computer Science program emphasizes using technology to solve real-world problems. Students plan, design, and optimize computer software and hardware systems for commercial, non-profit, and government environments. The program focuses on theory and fundamentals, plus sustainable designs.

Learning includes practical, hands-on laboratory activities with frequent one-on-one faculty contact. Students also develop skills through cohort support, including a faculty advisor for the cohort, professional development opportunities outside the classroom, and experience-based internships. Graduates can pursue careers such as software architect or engineer, application software designer, system analyst or programmer, or systems engineer.

The minimum requirements for admission in Computer Science at Defiance College for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Defiance College.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Defiance College as pre-requiste for admission in Computer Science.

• Ohio resident
• 3.2 or higher GPA in high school
• Apply and be accepted to Defiance College for priority consideration
• Must interview virtually with the Dean of the Institute for Pre-Health & Wellness Studies
• Must be/remain a computer science major
• If GPA drops below 3.0, the student/advisor must submit an academic plan for improvement.
