Bachelor's in Computer Science
Introduction
Computer Science is a Bachelor program taught at Hamilton College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Computer Science program at Hamilton College focuses on the question of what can be automated. Students explore both the experimental and theoretical sides of computer science through hands-on courses and research, including how computing affects the modern world and the ethical and social risks and benefits of technology. They learn core principles of program execution, develop an assembler, implement an interpreter, and solve problems with efficient algorithms that use appropriate data structures.
Learning is organized around hands-on course work across a sampling of classes. Students take an introductory course on algorithmic problem-solving using the Python programming language, followed by study such as Principles of Programming Languages, Algorithms and Data Structures, and Computer Organization and Assembly Language. A final project in Computer Organization and Assembly Language includes building an assembler. Other options include Developing Accessible User Interfaces and Computer Networks, which use programming assignments and practical implementation.
