Diploma in Auto Collision Repair & Refinishing Technician
Introduction
Auto Collision Repair & Refinishing Technician is a Diploma program taught at Madison Area Technical College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.
The Auto Collision Repair & Refinishing Technician Technical Diploma prepares students for collision repair work by covering basic collision repair theories, diagnosing and resolving collision repair issues, and using proper collision repair techniques for late-model vehicle materials and systems. The curriculum includes metal inert gas welding, panel replacement, metal forming, sheet metal alignment and finishing, automotive refinishing/painting, and airbrushing and custom painting.
Learning is mostly hands-on with very little bookwork. Students practice techniques on various materials early in the program so they can work on an actual vehicle later. Classes start in the fall semester, run full time, and are delivered 100% in person at the Madison College Truax campus. The program also includes collision damage assessment and repair estimating, structural evaluation using a laser measuring system, structural repair using Chief Fuzion Straightening Solutions, plastic repairs, and creating a work portfolio.
