Introduction

Visual Arts is a program taught at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Visual Arts certificate program at Minnesota State Community and Technical College pairs practical instruction with contextual coursework. Students explore the history of art, including the prehistoric origins of art, and study how art shapes and reflects sociopolitical impacts. Instruction includes basic principles and methods of art-making, plus analysis of visual artists’ work across eras so students can differentiate stylistic characteristics of major art movements and periods.

Students apply classroom learning to create original art pieces. The program supports conceptual discourse and physical practice through studio facilities for ceramics, painting, drawing, and printmaking, a traditional darkroom, and fine arts gallery spaces. Students have opportunities to exhibit their work, and they can connect with national and international artists through the annual Visiting Artists Program.
