Bachelor's in Health, culture & societies
Introduction
Health, culture & societies is a Bachelor program taught at New College of Florida, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Health, Culture & Societies at New College of Florida is a B.A. through an Interdisciplinary Area of Concentration called Health, Culture and Societies. It explores the interaction among biological, social, and cultural realities in societies past and present. The joint concentration complements students’ learning experiences in another Area of Concentration and provides a focal point for health-related futures.
The curriculum uses interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning that connects academic study with professional work and community engagement. Practical experiences and professional exploration alternate with academic study and classroom instruction. Students study health through multiple perspectives, including humanistic, social scientific, and natural scientific approaches, with attention to health inequities, expert and local knowledge, and contemporary disparities.
Course options include Health, Culture, and Societies: Interdisciplinary Explorations, which investigates health in relation to cultures and societies across the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Other course examples include Social Epidemiology, Health Education, A History of Biomedicine, Medical Anthropology, Dealing with Data I, Epidemiology II, and Global Health.
