Introduction

Rhetoric & writing is a Bachelor program taught at New College of Florida, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Rhetoric & Writing is an Interdisciplinary program option within the B.A. Division. Students with a secondary field AOC in Rhetoric and Writing read and write about writing, treating writing as a tool for thinking and communication and also as an object of study. The area focuses on how writers consider texts, contexts, and audiences to construct knowledge and effect change, including analyzing rhetorical situations to develop arguments.

The curriculum emphasizes both coursework and required experiential learning. Students work through writing-focused courses such as Advanced Research Writing, Writing About Writing, and A Linguistic Approach to Writing. A featured course, ENC 3300, is described as an intermediate academic writing class structured like a fantasy RPG, with weekly informal and formal writing assignments, readings, and group or pair work that build academic disciplinary writing conventions.
