Introduction

Chemistry is a Bachelor program taught at Occidental College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Studying Chemistry at Occidental College means learning how matter works at every scale. You explore the structure, reactions, and behavior of molecules, with coursework that builds foundations in general, organic, analytical, physical, and inorganic chemistry. You also develop skills in forming hypotheses, designing experiments, interpreting data, and studying topics such as reaction mechanisms, chemical energy, and biomolecular structure.

The program connects theory with intensive lab work. Research is central, with original lab work alongside faculty mentors, plus participation in the Summer Research Program. Peer mentoring and the Academic Mastery Program support learning outside the lab. Chemistry majors can concentrate in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Environmental Chemistry, and you may join faculty-led projects in areas such as synthesis, catalysis, materials science, analytical chemistry, and chemical biology.
