Bachelor's in English
Introduction
English is a Bachelor program taught at Occidental College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Occidental College offers an English undergraduate major focused on reading and interpreting literature from a wide range of authors and eras. Students study how language and storytelling reflect culture, politics, and identity, while strengthening critical and creative writing. Course offerings include British, American, and other Anglophone traditions, from Medieval and Renaissance texts to emergent and contemporary writing.
The program combines literary analysis with hands-on engagement through faculty guidance in thinking about texts and expressing ideas in writing and discussion. Students can pursue an emphasis in creative writing, with workshops in poetry, fiction, and hybrid forms, plus work with visiting writers and a writer in residence. English also connects with Media Arts and Culture, Interdisciplinary Writing, Black Studies, and Theater and Performance Studies, alongside the College Writing Program.
