Master Class
Introduction
Master Class is a Masters program taught at Occidental College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
This Master Class at Occidental College features musician and singer Esperanza Spalding coaching students in performance. Students take part in an hour-long master class before a free public concert. Coaching includes preparing songs and communicating the meaning behind lyrics, with guidance to relate the lyrics to the performer’s own experience.
The session ends with a private reception, followed by Spalding’s performance in Thorne Hall for a packed audience. The event is arranged as a performing-arts fellowship activity, with recipients receiving coaching at the master class. The page names specific student recipients and describes their performances during the coaching time.
