Bachelor's in Organismal Biology
Introduction
Organismal Biology is a Bachelor program taught at Pitzer College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Organismal Biology is a biology major focused on physiology, ecology, and evolutionary biology. Students learn foundational principles in Physiology, Ecology, and Evolutionary Biology, and they develop skills to understand, articulate, and apply scientific principles and findings. The major includes work with original research articles and the use of research tools and methods to answer scientific questions.
Research is at the core of the major, supported by extensive lab facilities at the Nucleus, a science building with 65,000 square feet. Students can conduct fieldwork with faculty on protected land at the Robert Redford Conservancy and Bernard Field Station, and they can conduct research abroad at Pitzer’s Firestone Center for Restoration Ecology to support restoration work in Costa Rica’s lowland rainforests. The major leads to a Bachelor of Arts.
