Introduction

Physics is a Bachelor program taught at Pitzer College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

The Physics major at Pitzer College helps you describe physical systems using mathematical modeling and test those models through hands-on experiments. It includes work in theoretical physics, with analytical and numerical methods for investigating models, and experimental physics, with experiment design, order-of-magnitude estimates, and sources of error.

The major is a Bachelor of Arts Physics major that requires a minimum of 13 courses plus a senior thesis. Required coursework includes Principles of Physics, Physics computational applications, Computational Physics/Engineering, Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Electronics Lab, Programming for Science+Engineer (or an equivalent course), Quantum Mechanics computational applications, and Statistical Physics computational applications, plus a one- or two-semester thesis in Science.
