Introduction

Media Studies, MA is a Masters program taught at Pratt Institute, USA. Intake: Fall Only. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 Years) options.

The MA in Media Studies at Pratt Institute helps students explore contemporary media through both critical theory and media practices. Coursework examines how media influence the economy, race, gender, and politics, and it addresses social, political, cultural, economic, and aesthetic questions through theory, media forms, and relevant archives. Students study how media creation and media forms operate as cultural and political processes.

The program is an interdisciplinary degree within the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Humanities and Media Studies, offered at the Brooklyn campus. It consists of 30 credits taken over three semesters, plus a thesis finished in the fourth semester. The core includes Mediologies I and II and Encounters I and II, with elective seminars and strongly recommended Experimental Media Lab and Methodologies Lab. Students can also take an optional internship and complete the Final Project/Thesis Workshop.
