Introduction

Paralegal is a Diploma program taught at Schenectady County Community College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.

The Paralegal A.A.S. program at SUNY Schenectady is designed for students who want to enter the workforce after an applied program of study or transfer to four-year pre-law or liberal arts programs. Nearly two-thirds of the required courses are in core legal specialty subjects that provide a broad academic background in law.

Students develop foundational knowledge of legal systems, including the structure and function of courts, sources of law, and the role of administrative and international legal frameworks. The program emphasizes applying legal research and writing skills to locate, interpret, and communicate legal information in professional legal documents, and evaluating legal issues in specialized areas of law to develop reasoned arguments and propose appropriate legal solutions. Eligible majors can complete 135 hours of field work through PAL 250, Paralegal Internship.
