Phlebotomy Technician Certificate
Introduction
Phlebotomy Technician Certificate is a Diploma program taught at Southeast Technical Institute, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Phlebotomy Technician Certificate at Southeast Technical Institute trains students to draw blood and supports blood use for research, testing, donation, or transfusion. Training includes instruction in venipuncture techniques, applying tourniquets, locating veins, and labeling and storing samples, along with professional patient care. Students also build knowledge in anticoagulants, maintaining specimen integrity, safe needle disposal, and how patient prep variables affect testing.
The program combines hands-on instruction in a lab with clinical training in the community. Clinical work helps students recognize differences in patient vasculature, operate and troubleshoot blood drawing devices, interact professionally with clinic or hospital staff, explain the blood-drawing procedure, and manage patient anxiety during venipuncture. Training is delivered at the Terrence Sullivan Health Science Center, and clinical experience supports identifying evacuated tubes by color codes.
