Bachelor's in Education: Early Childhood Education
Introduction
Education: Early Childhood Education is a Bachelor program taught at Stonehill College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The Early Childhood Education major at Stonehill College prepares future educators to teach in prekindergarten through grade two. Students work toward initial licensure from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE): Teacher: Early Childhood PreK-2. The curriculum includes coursework with an emphasis on developmentally appropriate practices, development theories, inclusive learning, assessment, and language and communication development.
Teaching preparation is built around a pre-practicum/practicum sequence that includes field-based experiences beginning as early as the first semester in the program. Students complete pre-practica alongside specific courses and then complete a full semester practicum (student teaching) alongside a supervising practitioner during their senior year. Faculty-led career-focused mentoring supports licensure candidates through experiences inside and outside the classroom.
