Introduction

Education: Elementary Education is a Bachelor program taught at Stonehill College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Stonehill College’s Elementary Education program is an undergraduate major that prepares future instructors to become effective teachers in grades one through six. Students study education theory, pedagogy, and research for teaching and learning of elementary-age children, along with liberal arts and science content supported by guidelines set by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The major prepares graduates for initial licensure from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

The program includes a comprehensive pre-practicum/practicum sequence with field-based experiences beginning as early as the first semester. Students complete field placements alongside general education and special education teachers in a variety of school and community settings, and complete pre-practica alongside specific courses. This supports a full-semester practicum (student teaching) during the senior year alongside a supervising practitioner.
