Bachelor's in Music Composition

Music Composition is a Bachelor program taught at Susquehanna University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Susquehanna University’s Music Composition program prepares students to compose for film, games, live performance, and digital media. From the start, students receive private composition lessons and continue study of a primary instrument or voice. The curriculum supports writing for different groups and styles while helping students shape ideas into polished, compelling music.

Students hear their music come to life through student composer concerts every semester and through performances by major ensembles, including orchestra, band, choirs, jazz, and opera theater. Coursework includes hands-on experience in recording and electronic music. Performance opportunities also include vocal ensembles and instrumental ensembles such as symphony orchestra, wind ensemble, symphonic band, stadium band, jazz ensemble, chamber music, and keyboard programs.

Graduates are described as ready for advanced study at respected graduate programs. The program also connects students with performance settings such as the Opera Studio, which performs opera scenes and full productions with orchestra, and the Opera Studio casts are made up of students who audition for the Opera Studio at the beginning of each year.
