English
Introduction
English is a Bachelor program taught at Trinity College (DC), USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The English B.A. studies texts across literature and media, including poems, memoirs, movies, novels, fairy tales, speeches, ads, stories, TV shows, laws, contracts, bumper stickers, and tweets. Students become familiar with works that include Toni Morrison, recent best sellers and scripts, and older classics from cultures around the globe. Coursework develops original writing in academic, professional, and creative forms, with attention to gender, race, and ethnicity.
The program supports discussion, analysis, and creation through activities such as spoken-word events (Speakin’ It Real) and the creative writing magazine (The Record). Students also learn from writers and artists invited to English courses. Many literature courses include field trips to museums, libraries, and literary venues such as the Smithsonian, Library of Congress, Folger Shakespeare Library, and National Archives. The program includes local internships at National Archives, Folger Shakespeare Library, Sitar Arts Center, and Trinity Writing Center.
