Introduction

Art History is a Bachelor program taught at Virginia Tech, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Art History at Virginia Tech helps you place works of art in historical, cultural, social, and political contexts. The program gives equal weight to analytical skills and visual skills. Students also develop transferable skills such as close looking, empathy, and communication.

Learning includes experiential activities tied to coursework and opportunities beyond the classroom. Students can work with campus collections, including Special Collections, and visit collections off campus. Students also participate in the student-run XYZ gallery and undertake local internships, such as at the Taubman Museum of Art.

An undergraduate concentration in art history may lead directly to graduate studies and to a career in teaching and scholarly research. It also supports career opportunities in museums, galleries, auction houses, and publishing companies.
