Bachelor's in Marine Biology
Introduction
Marine Biology is a Bachelor program taught at Wisconsin Lutheran College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Marine Biology major at Wisconsin Lutheran College focuses on marine science and related ecosystems through experiential learning. Students take part in activities that include diving and snorkeling in different marine contexts, hiking and study in intertidal environments, collection and identification of marine organisms, and lab work. Students also conduct faculty-guided undergraduate research in aquatic ecology in local and tropical watersheds.
Learning includes research in multiple marine environments. Students work on projects such as long-term biological monitoring on Grenada’s coral reef, aquatic ecology research in Milwaukee area waterways, and participation in data collection and tracking connected to coral reef and fish populations. On campus, students maintain a community of reef creatures in a 500-gallon marine reef tank and handle coral propagation. Students also may attend and present at national conferences, contribute to academic journals, and take part in academic competitions.
The program is built for small classes with individualized attention from faculty. Graduates pursue careers such as marine zoologist, oceanographer, wildlife biologist, hydrographer, ecologist, marine biologist, biochemist, educator, or other paths.
