Finnish Language Skills Scholarships at SAMK University of Applied Sciences

SAMK states that students enrolled at the university who are nationals of non-EU/EEA countries are required to pay an annual tuition fee, and that it offers a scholarship programme for students who are liable to pay tuition fees.

The fees apply to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes taught in English. SAMK lists programme-specific tuition fees and explains how students pay and confirm their study place by paying the fee.

• A continuous residence permit (Type A) in Finland for purposes other than studies may exempt you from paying the tuition fee.
• A continuous residence permit (Type A) does not exempt you if it was granted for studying in Finland.
• A continuous residence permit (Type A) does not exempt you if your first residence permit in Finland was granted for studying, even if you later obtained a Type A permit on other grounds.
• A continuous residence permit (Type A) does not exempt you if it is based on family ties and your family member originally came to Finland on a residence permit granted for studying.
• A continuous residence permit (Type A) does not exempt you if it is based on family ties and your family member currently holds a residence permit granted for studying.
• If you are exempted from paying the tuition fee, you must keep your residence permit and study right continuous without interruption.
• Only a physical passport, identity card, or residence permit card can be used as proof of exemption.
• An expired residence permit or a pending residence permit application does not exempt you from tuition fees.

1. If you are exempted from paying the tuition fee, send copies of the required documents as scanned PDF files to [email protected] by the payment due date mentioned in your acceptance e-mail.
2. If you have received a residence permit card, send a copy of the front and back sides of the card to the Admissions Office of SAMK at [email protected] within 30 days of receiving the decision.
3. To keep the exemption for the following semester, provide a copy of the exempting residence permit card before the beginning of the next semester.
