University of Jyväskylä Tuition Fee Scholarship

The University of Jyväskylä says it collects tuition fees from students in English-taught bachelor's and master's programmes who are citizens of countries outside the European Union, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland. The university also states that it does not offer a university-level scholarship for the first year of study.

After the first year, students who pay tuition fees can apply for the JYU Scholarship for continuing students. The scholarship applies to students who make sufficient academic progress and is linked to the tuition fee of the programme.

JYU grants the scholarship to all students who meet the stated criteria. For bachelor's students, the scholarship can support the second year and, where applicable, the third year. For master's students, it is offered only for the second year. The university states that it does not offer fully funded scholarships.

• Be a student liable to pay tuition fees at the University of Jyväskylä.
• Be enrolled in an English-taught bachelor's or master's programme.
• Have completed at least 55 ECTS credits of degree studies during the first year to qualify for the second year of the JYU Scholarship.
• For bachelor's students, have completed an average of at least 55 ECTS credits of degree studies during the two previous years to qualify for the third year of the JYU Scholarship.
• For bachelor's students admitted to a 3+2 study right, complete the bachelor's degree within three academic years to receive the JYU Scholarship for the master's studies.
• For master's students, be expected to graduate within two years; the scholarship is only offered for the second year.
• Meet the scholarship criteria set by the university.
• Apply in the Spring semester application round.

• For programmes with a tuition fee of €10,000, the scholarship amount is €3,000.
• For programmes with a tuition fee of €12,000, the scholarship amount is €4,000.
• For programmes with a tuition fee of €14,000, the scholarship amount is €5,000.
• For programmes with a tuition fee of €16,000, the scholarship amount is €6,000.
