Lapland University of Applied Sciences Tuition Fee Scholarship

Lapland University of Applied Sciences charges tuition fees to non-EU/EEA citizens who accept a place in an English-taught Bachelor or Master degree programme. The university says some residence permit holders are exempt from the fee, and that scholarship policies apply to international degree students outside the EU and EEA.

The scholarship system is tied to the programme and the admission period. For Bachelor’s degree students, the university describes Early Bird scholarships for quick acceptance, scholarships based on Finnish language proficiency and study progress, and discretionary scholarships for students close to finishing their degree. For some admission periods, Master’s students may also receive a scholarship based on graduating within the target time; for other periods, Lapland UAS says there are no scholarships for Master’s students.

Selection depends on the scholarship type. The university uses acceptance timing, registered attendance, payment of the required share of tuition fees, completed credits, Finnish study units, Finnish language test results, and academic progress. For discretionary scholarships, students must apply separately and must have only the thesis left to complete their degree.

The award period and amount depend on the scholarship category. Some scholarships are paid before studies begin, while discretionary scholarships are paid retroactively if the student completes the degree within the agreed or target time. Lapland UAS also states that students must keep tuition fee obligations and residence permit status up to date, and that the right to study is conditional until original admission documents are shown and the tuition fee is paid.
