University of Paris-Saclay France IDEX International Master's Scholarships

Université Paris-Saclay offers the “International Master’s Scholarships Program” to outstanding international students as part of the internationalization strategy of its master’s programmes, to facilitate their access to its courses. The programme is particularly aimed at students wishing to pursue a PhD.

Students of foreign nationality are eligible if they are admitted to a master’s degree programme at Université Paris-Saclay operated by AgroParisTech, CentraleSupélec, ENS Paris-Saclay, INSTN-CEA, IOGS, Université Évry Paris-Saclay, Université Paris-Saclay, or UVSQ. Eligible fields are all academic fields, but vocational programmes (“formations en apprentissage”) are excluded. Both M1 and M2 are eligible, with automatic renewal for the second year for M1 laureates admitted to M2.

Candidates are first selected by course coordinators after they have applied and been admitted before the set scholarship deadline. Selected students then receive an email with a link to the online application form and may be asked for the name and contact details of two references. Complete applications are evaluated by a scholarship jury of experts from Graduate Schools of Université Paris-Saclay, using criteria including academic background, personal project, and motivation for pursuing a PhD thesis at Université Paris-Saclay for M2 candidates. The jury’s decisions are discretionary and confidential, and cannot lead to an appeal. A bonus system is implemented for refugee students or students with subsidiary protection via a UNHCR and MEnS association-supported approach; applicants should indicate this status in their statement of purpose.

The scholarship provides 10,000 euros per year, paid monthly for the academic year from September to June. The amount is reduced during months spent abroad (compulsory international mobility, delocalized master’s programmes) or during internships undertaken outside Université Paris-Saclay affiliated labs. Laureates also receive a yearly flat fee of up to 900 euros to support travel and visa costs, with the amount depending on the candidate’s country of origin. Scholarship and travel expenses are paid only upon arrival in France and after registration in the admitted programme, and no advance payment is available. Laureates are supported with administrative procedures and assistance in searching for accommodation, but accommodation reservation cannot be guaranteed and housing search remains the laureate’s responsibility.

• First-time enrolment in France: first-time enrolment in France (never registered in a French Higher Education Institution), except exchange programs, Erasmus Mundus joint master’s degrees without a French degree, internships and language programs
• Age: under 30 years of age during the year of application
• Other funding: ineligible if receiving any other funding above 600 euros per month
• Non-cumulation: cannot be cumulated with France Excellence Eiffel scholarships, France Excellence Europa scholarships, or Erasmus Mundus scholarships
• Eligible programmes: all academic fields; all master’s programmes of Université Paris-Saclay except vocational programmes (“formations en apprentissage”)
• Level: both M1 (first year of master’s) and M2 (second year of master’s) are eligible
• Renewal condition (for M1 laureates): automatic renewal for a second year for any laureate admitted in M1 who, upon completion of all required credit, is admitted in an M2 programme of Université Paris-Saclay
• Refugee/subsidiary protection (bonus evaluation): applicants concerned by refugee status or subsidiary protection should indicate it in their statement of purpose

1. Apply to a master’s degree at Université Paris-Saclay before the set deadline for the international scholarship programme; late applications cannot be accepted, and only students applied and admitted before the set deadline can be selected by course coordinators.
2. After course coordinator selection, selected students receive an email with a link to the online application form. If applicable, provide the name and contact details of two references, and references complete their recommendation online before the set deadline.
3. Submit a complete online scholarship application; complete applications are evaluated by a scholarship jury composed of experts from Graduate Schools of Université Paris-Saclay based on academic background, personal project, and motivation for pursuing a PhD thesis at Université Paris-Saclay for M2 candidates.
4. Check the result notification: all applicants are informed by email of the jury’s decision.

• Recommendation details for up to two references when requested (name and contact details of two references who can recommend the application); references then complete their recommendation online
• Statement of purpose (to indicate refugee status or subsidiary protection for the bonus system, if concerned)
