University of Szeged Hungary National Higher Education Scholarship

The University of Szeged National Higher Education Scholarship is a National Higher Education Scholarship named under the amendment of Act CCIV of on National Higher Education. The regulations for awarding it are based on ANHE and Government Decree 51/, and the scholarship is provided for a full academic year of 10 months. The stated monthly amount is HUF 40,000.

The scholarship is for students in state-funded (including scholarship and part-scholarship) or fee-paying full-time undergraduate, master’s or undivided training programmes. Applicants must have been enrolled for at least two semesters during earlier studies and have earned at least 55 credits. Students pursuing a master’s degree after undergraduate education may apply if they meet the other conditions in the call. The option to apply is available on a continuous basis for students intending to continue studies as degree-changing students in the semester following the application, during the disbursement period.

Selection is based on “outstanding academic achievement,” “outstanding work in a professional field,” and “public, sport and other activities.” For academic performance, the student must achieve at least 90% of the 100% academic achievement recorded for the relevant faculty. Professional work is evaluated based on results described on the application form and supported by attached documents, including items such as scientific and artistic activities, conference placements, demonstrator activities, publications, and participation in research; faculty committees may also evaluate achievements beyond the language examination required for the award of the degree. Social life, sports, and other activities can be included up to an extent not exceeding 10%.

The scholarship is disbursed only during the academic year stated in the call and may be paid only if the student continues studies in the following semester when completing the training period in an odd academic semester. Scholarship payment is not available if student status is terminated or suspended as set out in the ANHE, except if the student establishes a new student status in the academic year in accordance with the referenced government decree. No further post-award obligation is stated beyond the conditions related to student status and continuing studies.

• Applicant intends to countinue higher education studies as degree changing students in the semester following the application during the disbursement period (for those applying on a continuous basis)
• Applicant must have outstanding achievement in studies or outstanding professional work performed in the relevant training period of academic year 2024-2025
• For outstanding academic achievement assessment: at least 90% of the 100% academic achievement recorded for the faculty concerned
• For application evaluation for professional work: results must be described on the application form and supported by a copy of the documents attached to the application
• Exclusion criterion: enrolling for and failing to complete a compulsory course during the application period (academic year 2024-2025)
• Exclusion criterion: an effective disciplinary decision passed against the student prevents application during the effect of that decision
• Master’s after undergraduate education: applicant may apply if other conditions are met
• Evaluation of overall student performance is based on study achievement and professional output, and may include social life, sports, and other activities at the discretion of the faculty and not exceeding 10%
• Capacity/expectation: 108 student applications is expected to be accepted by the University of Szeged

1. Submit an application electronically via the Modulo website (https://modulo.etr.u-szeged.hu) by filling in the application form and attaching the enclosures, using the virtual office named University of Szeged.
2. Submit the application by filling in the application form; the application form is valid only together with a detailed and validated evaluation of the institution.
3. Ensure the application form is not defective; applications filled in defectively will be rejected.
4. Ensure marks (including retake examination marks) are registered in the Student Information System in time, and if necessary request finalization of semester records at the Academic Office of the Faculty.
5. If rejected by the faculty committee, the applicant may appeal to the Dean within three days of the publication of the ranked list.
6. For a negative decision by the National Commission for Higher Education Scholarships, the applicant may appeal within 15 days of publication to the university body/person that made the decision challenged by the appeal or failed to make the decision; the request must be submitted to the Dean and addressed to the Rector.
7. Parallel application: students may apply for a National Higher Education Scholarship and a premium educational scholarship simultaneously using the National Higher Education Scholarship application form; a premium educational scholarship may be awarded only if the National Higher Education Scholarship application is rejected.
