University of Siena €12,000 Master’s Scholarship in Italy (Siena International Excellence Scholarships)

The University of Siena provides Siena International Excellence Scholarships to honor distinguished international students and encourage enrollment in selected Master’s degree programmes (Lauree Magistrali). For the academic year/, the University offers five scholarships, each worth €6,000.00 annually (gross amount), for one year and renewable for a second year, for a total of €12,000.00 over two years (gross amount).

Applicants must hold non-Italian citizenship and have earned their entry qualifications from institutions outside Italy. Candidates must apply for Master’s programmes listed in three areas (Economics and Law; Political, International, Social and Cognitive Sciences; Biomedical and Medical Sciences) and for scholarship-eligible programmes within the Area of Math and Experimental Sciences, where two scholarships are available for two different courses. Scholarships are awarded to admitted students in Master’s programmes conducted entirely in English. Candidates can apply for up to two programmes and are eligible whether they are awaiting evaluation or have confirmation of acceptance for first or second intake.

Selection is based on admission outcomes and materials used by the Evaluation Committee, including documentation already uploaded for the admission application on the same portal. Candidates not appearing in the published final ranking lists are not awarded the scholarship. Selected candidates are contacted by University offices to complete a preliminary acceptance procedure. Acceptance must be confirmed within 7 days from the date of receipt of official communication, or the scholarship is reassigned to the next eligible candidate in the relevant ranking list.

• Applicants must not hold Italian citizenship, except for individuals with dual citizenship that includes Italian
• Applicants must not be a resident of Italy
• For this call, non-EU citizens with a valid residence permit that allows enrollment in an Italian university without the need for a new student Visa are considered residents of Italy
• For this call, EU and EU-equated citizens who have continuously resided in Italy for more than 9 months are considered residents of Italy
• Citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the Republic of San Marino, and Switzerland are considered as EU citizens
• Applicants must have applied for one or more of the listed Master’s degree programmes using the procedures and meeting the deadlines on the apply.unisi.it platform
• Candidates can apply for up to two programmes
• Both candidates awaiting evaluation and candidates already confirmed as accepted to one of the listed study programmes (first or second intake) are eligible to apply
• The scholarship is for admitted students to selected Master’s degree programmes conducted entirely in English
• Incomplete scholarship applications are rejected

• Grant amount: €6,000.00 annually (gross amount) for one year
• Renewal: renewable for a second year (total €12,000.00 over two years, gross amount)
• Number of scholarships: five scholarships

1. Submit the scholarship application through the apply.unisi.it portal using the provided link.
2. Use the same account used for the course admission application when submitting the scholarship application.
3. Ensure the scholarship application is submitted under the “Scholarship” section for the academic year 2025/2026 listing.
4. Confirm that scholarship applications will only be considered if the candidate has already applied for admission to at least one of the listed courses; if applying to two courses, submit a single scholarship application.
5. Pay the non-refundable application fee of 10 euros to submit the scholarship application; payment instructions will be sent via email following the same procedure used for course admission applications.
6. Complete the scholarship application by providing a short self-made video (no longer than 1 minute) explaining motivations and the name(s) of the Master’s degree programme(s) for which the candidate is applying for this call.
7. Upload any additional materials needed for admission, since the Evaluation Committee will use the documentation already uploaded by the applicant for the admission application through the same portal.
8. Review the deadline for scholarship applications and submit by the application deadline stated by the University.
9. After selection, candidates selected as scholarship recipients (esito: vincitrice/ore) will be contacted directly to complete the preliminary acceptance procedure according to the Call for Applications.
10. Confirm acceptance within 7 days from the date of receipt of the official communication; otherwise the scholarship will be reassigned to the next eligible candidate (esito: idonea/o) in the relevant ranking list.
