Bachelor of Education in Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Business Computer Studies

The Bachelor of Education in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Business and Computer Studies is a four-year full-time program at the University of Technology, Jamaica. It prepares students for careers in education and industry by providing theoretical knowledge and practical skills in business and computer technology. The program offers two specializations: Business Studies, focusing on accounting, finance, and business management, and Computer Technology with Accounting, combining IT and financial skills to prepare educators and professionals. Students study modules related to financial accounting, auditing, taxation, and electronic accounting in the Business Studies specialization. The Computer Technology with Accounting specialization includes computing essentials for educators, database management, and computer animation. The program emphasizes hands-on training and aims to equip graduates to work as educators or professionals in their fields.

5 CSEC/GCE O-Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics, OR a 3-year Teachers’ Diploma in Secondary Education. A CSEC/GCE O-Level pass in Information Technology or 80 hours of instruction in computing is an asset for the Computer Technology option. Passes in two business subjects are beneficial for the Business Studies option. All applicants must sit an interview.
