Master of Arts in Media Culture and Technology

The Master of Arts in Media, Culture and Technology at the University of Technology, Jamaica is a 36-credit interdisciplinary degree. It combines media and technology with cultural studies. Students develop skills in content production across various platforms and media, digital systems for cultural content management, policy drafting related to culture and digital media, and intellectual property use for monetization. The course aims to prepare graduates to evaluate media technology's role in social and cultural change, innovate in cultural content production and promotion, and lead in Caribbean creative media enterprises. Most modules are delivered remotely. Two practical modules, Digital Production Studio and Digital Storytelling and Media Production, are offered face-to-face or via hybrid modality depending on student equipment availability. The research project can be completed independently on campus or remotely.

A bachelor’s degree in media, communication, cultural studies, history, entertainment, heritage studies, archaeology, information technology, any relevant social or behavioural science, or a related field with a GPA of 2.7 or above. Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) eligibility possible if regular matriculation requirements are not met.
