Master of Science in Trauma Studies and Integrative Counselling

The Master of Science in Trauma Studies and Integrative Counselling is a postgraduate programme lasting 24 months. It requires 36 credits to complete and is delivered in a hybrid mode at the Papine Campus of the University of Technology Jamaica. The course combines trauma studies with integrative counselling approaches. It is suitable for students who have a background in psychology or trauma-related work and prepares graduates to provide counselling with a focus on trauma in various settings.

Applicants should have a first degree with at least 2.7 GPA or its equivalent. They must have prerequisite modules in Introduction to Psychology and one of the following: Abnormal Psychology, Social Psychology, or Health Psychology. Applicants with years of practice providing trauma-related support may be considered by Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) by the University. They should demonstrate awareness of emotional and mental well-being, motivation for study, and emotional maturity. Other professional certification may also be considered case-by-case with portfolio evaluation.
