Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design

The Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design program provides a curriculum centered on undergraduate design studios forming the core of the major. It starts with foundational architectural and design principles like form, space, function, and composition, then advances to complex considerations of human behavior and spatial experience. The program balances theory, practice, and research to develop creativity and critical thinking regarding how interior environments respond to human needs. Upper-level studios engage students in diverse contexts such as commercial, institutional, hospitality, healthcare, and retail settings. The course covers specialized areas like furniture design, sustainable design, historic preservation, digital visualization, design theory, and education. It aims to prepare graduates for professional competence and ethical, innovative contributions to the built environment.

To earn the degree, a student must complete 136 credits with an overall GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. All major courses graded below C must be repeated.
