The Master of Arts in English Language and Literature with a Literature Emphasis deepens expertise in English literature and the structure of the English language. Students learn advanced analytical and conceptual tools needed for further academic research or careers in language teaching, program administration, and communications. The program focuses on broad knowledge of English literary studies from multiple perspectives, critical analysis, and applying research techniques in writing and speaking. The course requires the completion and defense of a thesis.
Students must complete 30 credits with an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Graduate students must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 in all courses, with no more than two grades of "C" allowed. The minimum passing grade for a graduate course is "C."
