Master of Arts in Translation

The Master of Arts in Translation at Notre Dame University prepares students for careers in various translation fields. Students develop expertise in translating and interpreting texts between English, French, and Arabic. The program emphasizes research skills and ethical professional conduct. Students complete 36 credits including a thesis. The program includes core and major requirements and may involve remedial courses for language proficiency. Admission requires passing written proficiency tests and an interview in the three languages.

MA candidates must pass a written language proficiency test in French and Arabic with a grade of 70 or above in both. An interview in English, French, and Arabic is required. Students with deficiencies may take remedial courses in the first semester and obtain a 'B' grade in those courses. Applicants with a degree other than Translation must take TRA 201 and TRA 311 or TRA 401 during the first semester with a grade of B or higher.
