Bachelor of Education Teaching English As a Second Language

The Bachelor of Education (TESL) with Honours at Asia e University prepares students to teach English as a second language. Students study teaching-focused modules such as Philosophy of Education, Developing the Curriculum, Enhancing Teacher Professionalism, Evaluation & Testing in the Classroom, Educational Psychology, and Instructional Technology & Learning Resources. The curriculum also includes Schools & Society, Counselling in Schools, Pedagogical Models & Strategies, and Child Growth & Development, with a Practicum component.

Study is delivered through Fully Online and Blended Learning. Learning includes interactive learning activities, assignments, and online discussion, with access to myPLS anytime, anywhere, and on any devices. Tutorials run once a month on weekends, with 3 meetings per subject and a total of 10 hours per subject. Assessment uses coursework and a final exam, and the programme includes 38 subjects plus Practicum.

Direct entry

• A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two (2) subjects or its equivalent and a credit in English at SPM or its equivalent;
• A pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Jayyid and a credit in English at SPM or its equivalent;
• A Diploma (Level 4, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or its equivalent and a credit in English at SPM or its equivalent;
• Matriculation/Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or its equivalent and a credit in English at SPM or its equivalent;
• AND a minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS or its equivalent

Note: The credit requirement of English, Bahasa Melayu, Arabic, Chinese or Tamil at SPM level can be waived should the grade obtained at STPM/STAM level or its equivalent is higher.

ELCR band (International Students Only)

• Achieve a minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS OR its equivalent.

APEL entry

• At least 21 years of age in the year of application
• Possess relevant working experience.

• A minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS or its equivalent.
• ELCR Band (International Students Only): Achieve a minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS OR its equivalent.
