Diploma in Midwifery

The Advanced Diploma in Midwifery is an advanced training programme that builds on existing nursing knowledge and skills to prepare midwives for advanced practice, leadership, and roles in maternity care. It focuses on critical thinking, clinical excellence, professional autonomy, and the promotion of normal physiological birth, with preparation to manage complexity and emergencies. The curriculum aligns with Malaysian Nursing Board and international midwifery standards and includes advocacy, ethical practice, and cultural safety.

The programme runs for 1 Year across 3 semesters and totals 51 credit hours. It includes core and compulsory subjects divided into Nursing Science (including Introduction to Midwifery; Health Assessment, promotion and Education; Perinatal and Neonatal; Medical Diseases, Abnormal Pregnancy and Labor; Obstetric and Gynaecology Emergency; and Community Health Nursing), Basic Medical Sciences (including Anatomy and Physiology: Reproductive and Mammary; and Pharmacology: Gynaecology & Obstetric Drug), Behavioral Science (Psychology and Sociology), Research (Research and Statistic), and a compulsory module category of 11 credits.

For Malaysian Candidates:

• Possess Diploma/Bachelor in Nursing from a recognized institution by MQA
• Registered with the MNB
• Possess current PC/RON for nurses from MNB before clinical placement
• Minimum twenty-four (24) months clinical experience.

For International Candidates/spouse of Malaysian Citizen:

• Possess Diploma/Bachelor in Nursing from a recognized institution by accreditation body country of origin
• Registered with the Nursing Council of the country of origin.
• Possess current TPC from MNB before clinical placement
• Minimum twenty-four (24) months clinical working experience

And

Attain proficiency in English language with one (1) of the following exam results:

MUET with minimum Band 3 as a graduation requirement. OR A pass in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5.5 OR Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): TOEFEL Paper Based Test (TOEFL PBT) a minimum score of 453;
